Rover 75 / MG ZT facelift - SjB {P}
I have always liked the Rover 75, not just as a fine piece of engineering, but also as a well proportioned example of styling.
The same goes for the ZT, whose front end treatment was beautifully matched to the stance of the rest of the car. I came so close to buying a ZT-T 190 last year, whose handling and feel-good factor astonished me, and it was mainly space requirements and 30 years of good family experience with Volvos that put me in a V70 2.4T instead, despite the considerable extra cost.

What on earth have MG-Rover therefore been doing with the 2004 revisions?

The 75 now looks like it rolled off a Lancia production line (remember them?!), and the ZT now looks like a bland and heavy handed X-Power interpretation. Both have front end styling totally out of keeping with the rest of the shell.

It all begs the question though "Why didn't MG-Rover put the money towards something more vital, such as downpayment on a 25/45 replacement?!"

i definitely agree. The new front end especially does not look like a 'revision' but more like they have gone back a step. I think it looks very bland.

Maybe not a significant change but interesting enough. I like it!
We are on our 3rd 75, would certainly have another facelifted version.

i think it's a massive improvement. it now looks more agressive and less of an old mans luxury barge.

each to their own.......

I didn't like it at first but I saw the fully detailed pics in Autocar and I admit it's grown on me a lot. I do like the new 'Contemporary' trim level which I think will have a younger appeal. The rear restyling is a definite improvement. Introducing a tighter fit on the front does clean up the 'bonnet gap' that's deliberate on the first 75's but doesn't look totally right.

It's good to know they haven't messed with the engineering because it is a superbly well screwed together car and has a growing reputation for not only this but also some of the lowest depreciation in its class.

And it still looks street ahead other cars for sheer good looks.

think the new 75 looks great, certianly better looking than new 5 series.
