In march 2003 I asked my peugeot main dealer to look into a starting fault. The car could take from 1 to 7 attempts to start it,Once or twice a day but some days fine.Initally they could not find anything wrong. They took it in twice again replaced the imobiliser ariel unit and control unit. Before christmas they took it in again and replaced both units again. We went to collect it and it would not start at all. They then replaced the diesel tank lift(I think they mean fuel pump).Car started ok for two and a half weeks then same starting fault occured.engine turns over well but makes no attempt at starting.then can be fine, makes no diference hot or cold starts.Due to go back to main dealer for its usuall holiday.only two months warranty left does any one know what could be causing this problem, fault codes on peugeot computer inconclusive says clutch is being ridden this is rubbish,I have no confidence in this computer.

I have had my HDi for 18 mths but no starting probs like this. I'm not convinced by the diagnoses your dealer is coming up with - why not try a reputable local diesel specialist? A warranty is one thing, but not much use if the probs aren't solved. Or if the Pug dealer is no good, try Citroen, it's the same thing.

Go to an auto electrician who has the equipment to interrogate your ecu. Do this before your warranty runs out. Mine failed five weeks after warraty date.Bill came to £753!

Wouldn't the manufacturer give a goodwill payment for the ECU? They shouldn't really be failing full stop.
