My father is visiting from Australia for 1 week in february. I have AA membership with myself as member and my partner as associate member on my membership. As i already have one associate on my cover i've been told by the AA i cant have another. Has anyone got any ideas on how i can get him covered?

Presumably you mean in your car? Erm.... some people actually do a policy for the car, not the driver (e.g., AutoNational rescue) which has a reduction for the second driver and car on the policy.
Other than that, I can't think of anyone who would do a short term breakdown policy like that. Perhaps £162 for a week in a Focus ( www.sixt.co.uk ) might make sense if there are extra costs to be taken into account.
That's gloriously bad service from the AA though.

Yes I cover the car not the driver on two of my vehicles and the driver on third. GreenFlag/Direct Line £119.00 I recall. Is you insurance company happy to insure him for a week. Some caompanies just charge an admin fee some refuse non uk licensed drivers. Good Luck. Regards Peter

Cheers for your suggestions. AA have been pretty good so far so not sure about cancelling my cover. Might just have to chance it.
It'll cost a tenner to insure him (58 - Australian license) but i dont think his dingo's covered.... ;-)

I have to ask is it worth it??
Do you think your car is so unreliable that it's going to break down in the week he's over here??

Whenever I've taken out breakdown cover I've never been asked for my date of birth, nor have I been asked for any ID when I've called them out.
As long as your father has you membership number in the event he needs to ring them, they I would think its safe to say that that would be adequate cover.
