Well I like the look of it even if no-one else does.

Mind you, I like a lot of the recent stuff from BMW so my taste is seriously suspect.

Well IMHO..

The car has kept the essential "DS-ness" but been "contemporised" like the "Mini 2".

Stick the Citroen Hydractive 3 system on it, plus a decent engine, and I think that it would be roaringly successful.


(BTW, am I in error assuming that the original DS was at least 20 years ahead of its time and an acknowledged all-time design classic?)

Yes the original DS was/is a classic.. way ahead of it's time. It still looks comtemporary and needs no updating.

That image makes it look like a Megane.

Isn't it about time we stopped trying to re-invent the past ?

;) I don't like the new "BMW 1 series" either :D OR the "new" Beatle...

The BMW 1 Series isn't re-inventing the past at all. It's a totally new design, and BMW's first proper RWD hatchback (Not counting the 3 Series compact).

Definitely should be built! I don't like citroens but the DS was always a beautiful car and the only citroen I would ever drive.

Did you hear what Jeremy Clarkson had to say about them the other week on TG? Reckons they would make good getaway cars for a bank robbery as nobody would know what it was being so boring.

Personally, I like mine and cannot think of a car I would change it for (even with all the money in the world...), OK, with all the money Jaguar should be able to make something to suit me.

Didn't hear Clarkson, but I don't mind. I don't think he's the guru that many imagine him to be.

Pleased you are happy with your C5. I took a 2.2 HDi estate for a test run recently and loved it. In my present precarious employmnet, I couldn't afford it.

Yes, I would buy one. But it would have be made of proper car type stuff with electrics that survive the first morning dew. Marshmallow,fudge,papier mache and spit just does not work in car building terms

Beautiful. I'd have one tomorrow at the right price with a 2.2 HDi (and the money!). But then I thought the original DS, the CX, the BX and the XM were also beautiful. And even if not beautiful you must admit they are different and original- even the Xantia is a bit different. Pity about the C5 - different but ugly and anonymous.
