My gf's BMW Compact 1.6 1996 has Park Distance Control which has just stopped working. Anyone got any ideas?

Not wanting to point out the obvious but have you washed them. Mine packed up for a while (gave a continuous beep) and they also looked clean. Perhaps you could get your gf to give them a gentle rub.

Doh!
Actually. I'll check later but would all 4 stop working even tho only 2 might be dirty?

My previous post might be totally wrong if no noise is emitting. I can only go by what happened with mine. Sometimes it made a continuous noise, sometimes a noise like a strangled cat and sometimes no noise at all.
I think that this was down to only one having a covering of dirt on it.

Theres no noise from the PDC,

The PDC on our 328 failed several times over the warranty period. The high pressure spray from a jetwash can damage the sensors, and should be kept well away.

Could that possibly be because despite having PDC fitted she still managed to back into something and banjax the sensors!?!?!?

Nah, shes quite a good driver!
No physical damage i can see.
Burnout - what was the cost to the garage of the warranty work?

From another forum - fair chance yours will have the same connections, which might be worth checking before you get a dealer to read the fault code. My understanding is that a faulty, dirty or missing sensor will activate the continuous tone....
I've recently been playing with the PDC kit from a 98 E36. The unit has two looms, one for the sensors, one for connecting to the rest of the car.
The 2nd loom had seven connections which were:
12v (switched igntion)
1 x Connection from reversing light
2 x 0v
2 x Data connections (for the diagnostic plug in)
1 x Output to under dash chime unit
