I've recently bought a range rover with a thin "coach line" style pin stripe along both sides (stuck on) and a glass mounted mobile antenna. what is the safest way to remove both of these offending objects. I was thinking hair dryers or mild tickling with a heat gun !?

Not sure about the coach stripe, but I've removed a couple of glass mounted aerials in the past by carefully prising them off with a screwdriver whilst using a piece of wood wrapped in a cloth or something equally kind to paintwork to get some leverage.
I found that heating the silicone type sealant holding the aerial base on had absoultely no effect.
Good luck.

If it is silicone then I seem to recall B&Q and or plumbers merchants sell silicone remover.

Gentle heating with hair drier will shift stickers. Don't use a hot air gun as even on the lowest setting it may damage the paint or trim. You may be left with a sticky residue. WD40 and a soft cloth will remove that. Don't use silicone remover; it may damage paint and it doesn't work anyway (It never worked on our shower!) Try to pull the aerial off and then keep nibbling away at the silicone residue with a plastic ruler or piece of wood. Don't use a metal scraper or the paint/glass will be scratched. It's surprising but even a fingernail will scratch car paint. Lot's of patience needed, I'm afraid.

Lift one end with your finger nail and the coach line will almost certainly just peel off. Turn it right back on itself so you're not pulling at right angles to the paintwork - original paint won't be a problem, but it's just possible resprayed work could be lifted.

To remove the phone aerial use a paint scrapper to slide under the base, this will release it very easily, just make sure that the scrapper has a nice clean flat edge to stop any scratches on the glass. Then use a sharp single edged blade to remove any residue, we use single edge razor blades but they are not the easiest things to get hold of, so use a new stanley blade with plenty of soapy water on the glass.
To remove the coach line I have found that a kettle of hot water is plenty to soften up the sticker to remove it.
Have fun.
