I am looking to buy a 306 xsi.

I saw a good deal and arranged to go round last night. The car looked great and the guy came down and said "that's the dent I was telling you about". He hadn't mentioned it, but it was small so I wasn't too concerned. We got in. First off I noticed the replacement gear knob which was 'rude boy' white.. I started the engine. Sitting in darkness I asked him where the lights were which he eventually found with a little fumbling, then I asked about the front wipers. An umm and an err later WE located them. I then found the rear wiper which made a huge clunk. He said "Oh, that's come off again" and went to open his door but the handle came off in his hand! (Bearing in mind the car is only 3 yrs old). He made more excuses and fixed everything. The test drive was ok, if a little brief. Upon our return I noticed the blown exhaust. Then he told us how much interest he had had in 'this one' (it was supposedly a private sale) and if I made him a good offer blah blah. Also he had some Lexus lights for it ("if I liked styling and body kits"), it had no stereo and a patchy history and he was selling it because he needed a bigger car (Golf GTi). Not sure what part of the Golf was bigger? Maybe the price he could flog it for? Needless to say we left without the car..

Anyone else got a similarly ridiculous story?
