Golf MKIII Dark Dash Board - Peter D
The Panel Lights behind the Heater Controls on my MK3 Golf have failed. The question is how do you get in there to change them, how many and what type of bulb is used. Thanks Guys Peter

This information comes from my diminishing gray cells, so please do not take it as gospel.
Remove with care the metal rotary switch surround, remove the switches underneath the unit and the left hand slider cover. Remove the 4 Philip headed screws, turn heater control unit through 90 taking care not to kink the bowden cable. Remove the white plastic bulb holder from the back of the unit. There should be only one capless 1.2w bulb wire contact type, eg Halford type 286.

Thanks for your reply but I think your gray cells have forgotten that you are describing the MKII Golf thus the Slider. But thanks all the same. Regards Peter

I refer to the cover panel (plastic about 2" long) that slides sideways and is to the left of the row of switches (rear window heater etc), I think it is above the lighter. Sorry I am not sure as I don't smoke!
