can somebody please tell me the ratios for the 306 dt
|
With pleasure. For the 1.9 I assume... Figure in brakets is MPH per 1000rpm
1st 0.2894 (4.805)
2nd 0.5348 (8.89)
3rd 0.8709 (14.47)
4th 1.2068 (20.05)
5th 1.5200 (25.27)
Rev 0.3000 (4.98)
Final Drive 0.2539 [16/63]
Hope you find this of some use.

The power of the internet never ceases to amaze me........that is fantastic information!
|
Yeah impressive info, however do you know which age of the 306DT this is for?
Coz my '95M doesnt follow that in fifth!
I get 3000rpm at 79mph not 75.81mph as calculated
Dunno about the other gears. Any ideas why this happens?
|
Is that an indicated 79mph? If so, your actual speed could be nearer the calculation result above....
|
Ah good call dieselboy, i bet that's it.
A mate of mine claims he gets 82mph, but i think that could be due to a slightly different tyre-wheel size
|
Well the gear ratios never changed for the 1.9 turbo XUD engine in the 306, according to the book I got these from.
At an indicated 2750rpm my car is at 70mph, which works out to 25.4mph/1000rpm which is pretty much accurate.

If we are looking for total accuracy, don't forget that the answer will depend on how much rubber is on your tyres. If new tyres have 7-8 mm and old ones 2-3, that equals a difference of 10mm in diameter or >30mm (well over an inch) in circumference, or about 1½ %.
