Thats a big help if you're right. I've changed the cam belt and crankshaft pulley and the noise is still exactly the same as before. As you mention, the noise goes away at exactly 3100 rpm - so hopefully youve saved me the £60 diagnostic fee at the citroen dealership. A couple other mechanics had failed to identify what the problem was so the dealership was a last resort. Its a 2001 (X reg) xantia HDI 118k miles - any idea what the parts will cost? many thanks!! damn, any idea how to turn itallics of - how did that happen. Never mind. More important - I got a low vibration rumbling noise that i can also feel through the gas peddle - its only there in high gear at low revs - any more insights would be greatly appreciated!
