I have just returned from a holiday in the Highlands of Scotland and drove past a Bentley with reg 1WO on the way to John O'Groats.
The registration rings a vague bell in my head - I definitely remember it from somewhere, is it a celebrity's car or is it the reg that always appears on Bentleys's own publicity material?
Please help me get to the bottom of this!!
Incidentally, the next day followed another Bentley, an 03 reg but with Bentley's own logo at bottom of reg plate - wonder if there was possibly a publicity launch going on??

this is the reg that usually appears on the cover of mags.owned by bently i spose.according to the aa car check its on a bentley arnage t.all that lovely scenery and your number plate spotting! the price we all pay for our automotive obsession i spose.hope you sampled a few good malts.bunny

Even more sad, as soon as I saw it I thought, if only I could get onto a computer, someone in the backroom could help me!!
Now I just have another 4 pages of discussions to catch up on since I went on holiday a week ago!

I saw one of the new Rolls Royces last week and it was one ugly beast. It was so big my E-Class felt pathetically small and I actually felt like scum driving past it.
The reg No. was RRR1

If you ever get envious, read the post here from Topaktas about his Bentley.
A bill for something or other involving investigation of his wiring was £1700.
I've bought whole cars for less.
I've bought half of Leeds... Well, no. But you get the point.

Assuming it is a company owned car & was not on a business journey......
That the car is not assigned to any one member of staff, specifically, then it would be considered a 'pool' car.
If thats the case, the driver should be paying a Benifit in Kind income tax contribution, for the private use, of the car!
Not sure how thats worked out, but should be a few £$£$£$ to HM Gov!!
They expect a contribution based on an 'average' car, IIRC!!

Since we are on the subject of Bentleys; does anyone agree with me that the new Continental is a complete steal at £110,000?
|
Blimey is that all!
I'll take two

The Telegraph motoring section today carried an article on the new Bentley coupe which was launched and tested in the Scottish Highlands. The car in the photos is an '03' plate. Perhaps BobbyG was witness to Telegraph motoring writer Andrew English putting this very sexy beast through her paces.

Definitely wasn't a coupe - think it was just another "bog standard" Arnage!! I actually saw one of the new Coupes going onto Channel Tunnel at Easter being shepherded by a VW Phaeton!

I presume they use it in remembrance of W. O. Bentley.
Tomo as was!

I seem to remember a Bentley bearing this reg a few weeks ago on Top Gear.
They've obviously fixed it since then. ;-)

It certainly wasn't a Bentley but I was amused by the vehicle I followed over the Tamar Bridge on friday afternoon.
W8 VAN.
I reckon you can all work it out!

1 WO is Bentley's registration, the WO stands for Walter Owen Bentley who founded the company !
|
Yep, I can confirm ^^^^^ as I work at Bentley and often see it around Pyms Lane.
|
|
I'm never ceased to be amazed at the wealth of information in here

Among Rolls-Royce 'works' registrations used to be 100 LG and 1800 TU.
|
And when BMW won the right to the Rolls Royce name, VW was so annoyed all traces of Rolls Royce history was removed from Pym's Lane in Crewe. Included in this were the old cars.
|
|
I regularly see 1800TU, a Bentley Turbo (I think!) on the A556 coming the other way when I'm going to work (in Chester).
Nice car.

WOW - reply to a 6 year old thread!
I saw a new Bentley today with the reg. DON100K, driven by a young blonde W8VAN, possible a ChelseaFC WAG.
|
Does Martin Devon realise he has resurrected a thread that was six years old!
|
wasnt it 'RobinRhysJones' who resurrected this thread?
Maybe a new kind of trolling?
|
It was the new user RobinRhysJones that resurrected this. I am inclined to put it back to sleep so to speak.

>>> why?
i posted about 2 bentleys i saw on the m1 tuesday one had the registration A1 **** i would be interested to have confirmed they were bentley blowers or austin 7"s
|
Bell Boy you hadn't posted in this thread before. To answer the Bentley Blower vs Austin 7 question. They look totally different. e.g.
Austin 7: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_7
Bentley "Blower": en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bentley_4%C2%BD_Litre
Sounds like your question is best in unusual sitings.
The Blower is impressive and I have seen it a few times at Bentley in Crewe. They run the one they have weekly.
