Drove to Stratford-upon-Avon early this morning.
Clear road, sunny but not over-hot, Korngold film music on the stereo. Bliss.
Has anyone else enjoyed a drive recently?

Wednesday night. Rayleigh go-karting track!
On a more sensible note, had more fun than I thought possible in a small Ford when test-driving a new Sportka. Excellent fun.

Last night.
Honda Hornet 600.
New Goodridge braided front brake hoses fitted during the day.
Poured with rain on the way home.
The best value mod I've ever made to a car or bike.
Shorter and lighter lever action, with (crucially, given the weather) ooodles and oodles more 'feel', despite the pads remaining the same (OE).
First time I've actually enjoyed riding my Big Boy's Toy For Sunny Days in the rain.

The Hornet is a superb choice.
You've really got a CBR600 with a bit less fairing, slight differences in the carbs and saved yourself about £2000.
Excellent fellow. Well done Sir.

Couple of weeks ago. Jr had a day off school (teacher training) so we went to Fort Nelson (royal armoury) Journey back was m27/goodwood/petworth/guildford. Great road, dry, empty, swoopy corners with good visibility so with 2.5k miles up now, decide to let the french strumpet lift her skirts a bit. Very enjoyable, handles really well for a biggish car, the rear skips a little over road imperfections but doesent let go, hardly any understeer. (brakes smell when hot tho!)
All in all a good day, and a good drive.

Just the most enjoyable summer term. Daughter's school move has meant driving 6 miles in each direction twice a day, through skinny, winding roads, encased by ditches and hedges, surrounded by woods and fields. This year the bluebells have been spectacular.
The good weather has provided a typical English summer landscape, the other drivers in both directions, have been (in the main) courteous and good natured (we've all taken our share of pulling over and backing up) This specifically excludes the pheasants and rabbits, who've delighted in playing 'chicken'
Windows and roof open, hi fi on (we managed to reach a compromise on 'tunes') It's been the most pleasurable stretch of driving I've done for a long while (contrasting sharply with long journeys along the M25/M4 in driving rain through the winter)
It's not been driving *for* pleasure, but it has been *a* pleasure.
Now, as regards the winter mornings..........

A31 east bound through New Forest as the sun rises :-)
Pleasant cruise to work A31/M27/M3 if trafic not too heavy then no gear changes required! About 55 miles in 5th.

I rather enjoyed my drive from the North West to the South East last Saturday night/Sunday morning ;-)
In fact, most of my driving this week has been eminently pleasureable as we have been exploring the gorgeous Kent countryside in the beautiful weather - fantastic!
Cheers

Trundling down the Fosse Way to Stratford-upon-Avon a few weeks ago was very enjoyable, especially as my little skoda gets extrewely 'interesting' over bouncy roads at high speed... ;)

Darwin - Alice Springs, Mitsubishi Magna rental, cruise control hour after hour BUT those road trains (that's a Mack with 3 or more 40' trailers behind it travelling at 100kph) need a bit of planning when overtaking. Hertz's guide says helpfully "make sure you can see a clear road at least 2 km ahead before attempting to overtake a road train..."

Yes. Yet another happy customer for Stratford upon Avon last Friday.
And a happy drive to Whitley Bay and the coast on Monday.
But I really enjoyed Melbourne to Perth (WA) last year in a Mazda 4WD, taking in a few vineyards (someone else driving !), a swarm of locusts that lasted 80km,...
Aaaah...
