Just recently had a Thatcham approved CAT1 alarm and Immoboliser fitted to my VW Passat. (got installation Cert.)
Does anyone know what sort of discount I should expect to get from insurers when I ring round in mid-july.

Depends on where you live and the car.
Makes not the slightest difference to me with MX5 in rural location. Some cars and/or places you can't get insurance without them.
Try some of the online quote engines as two different applications.
www.confused.com gets quotes from a dozen or so brokers.
