Is anyone else peeved by the lack of media coverage of this event?
I cannot recall having seen any news item, never mind a dedicated programme.
Wish I could say the same about Beckham's 'single mum' hairdo!

I'm lucky enough to have British Eurosport so got some coverage, but I'm sure they said the biking was going to be covered on Eurosport News so British Eurosport could concentrate on Le Mans on Sunday. I wasn't impressed at only getting the last hour or so, and as I don't get Eurosport News, couldn't check if they'd changed their mind and swapped things over...

Eurosport had about an hour on it last night. I understand they also covered it live during the weekend (I was there, so I can't be sure!), although there was NO cover on ANY television between 10 pm and 6 am because of French union rules (...?).
Twice during the race I turned away to answer nature's call and missed an incident exactly where I'd been watching...having said that, when the Mercedes flipped a few years back, I didn't see it at all until about 4 weeks after returning.
There are a number of websites devoted to Le Mans coverage (as well as the official one) where some very smart pics will appear. And I moderate a forum on one site, although admittedly the forum concentrates more on the social side of the event than the race itself. More loosely moderated than here, I can tell you!! :-) But a mine of useful info from a lot of experienced people, if you are ever thinking of going. www.clubarnage.com/yabbse/index.php

Yes, not much coverage.
....and they extended the evening news a couple of days ago to report on "that" footballer. What a sad state of affairs.

The problem with Le Mans is that it doesn't come across well on TV. With often several laps between the competitors and a long track, overtaking manoeuvres are rarely captured on camera and the impression of speed and noise is blunted by the cameras. IMO the drama of the race is best portrayed on TV by a post race documentary style programme.

"Overtaking manoeuvres are rarely captured on camera"
Lucky Formula 1 isn't like that, we'd all find it so boring!

Terrible. Keeping on a footballing note - Imagine if England had won the World Cup? There would have been street parties etc!
Bentley makes it 1-2, recalling the glory days of the 30s - a triumph for Britain (Or VAG-GmbH, whatever) ...
Maybe if the Bentley drivers had silly haircuts and married manufactured Pop Stars they'd get more hype? [Atomic Kitten, anyone?]

Same thing with the Dakar every January, never a mention in the Brit media, probably too foriegn.

Mmmmm ... wasn't Ted Toleman reported on extensively, after he was arrested during the Dakar a few years back? The most coverage it ever got!
Also, what was the race where the arch-prat Mark Thatcher got lost? Wasn't that the Dakar?
We get extensive coverage here each year, cars, trucks and bikes! Great telly!

Be thankful there is little coverage; it means there have been no spectacular accidents.
