Martyn,
Very modest of you to post your leaving announcement as \"read only\" so we couldn\'t shower you in praise....hasn\'t worked!
Visitors/contributors past and present owe you thanks for having such a direct involvement with setting up the forum side of HJ\'s website. It has been an undoubted success in that strange web way that can\'t be measured by normal indicators.
I am grateful that you have seen fit to put my name up in lights one last time. Those early days of this updated forum and my short moderation stint were great fun.
You are right there are many names here now you don\'t know and many who might think \"who the hell is Martyn?\". Rest assured 99.9% of those who do \"know\" you will think \"he was a decent guy\". The other 0.1% is so busy running a successful garage up north I doubt he\'ll have time to post anyway ;-).
I\'ve put a virtual £5* in your collection in the hope you get that fire pump you\'ve always wanted.
*Ok it seems a lot but I like to compensate for those that will sing your praises loudly while dropping a crafty 10p in the tin and rattling it hard!
Good luck with everything.
David
(Very modest of you to post your leaving announcement as \"read only\") It\'s not anymore. DD.

Nice job Martyn. Will be missed.

Yes, good luck Martyn !
Presumably there's nothing to stop you posting regularly however and enjoying the BackRoom from the other side of the 'bar'.
|
Good luck Martyn, from one of those whose name you don't really know, but who nonetheless will really miss your occasional but very valued presence here.
I do hope you continue to keep in touch by posting here.
It won't be the same any more.
All the best,
HF

So sorry to read of your departure. The site, and especially the Back Room, are a testament to the excellent job you have done. You certainly defined the term 'well moderated', and the forum certainly benefited from that.
Your sucessor will have a difficult job following you.
Good luck in your future exploits.
Best wishes

Martyn,
Well done, and many thanks for balanced and wise moderation over the past few years.
I echo all the above comments, and wish you all the very best for the future.

Martyn,
Always the case with these leaving cards, What to say that has not been said earlier.
Well thank you for you well balanced input into the site from the early days.
Also your listeneing ear was always appreciated.
The Backroom will never be the same again.
Kind regards.

You will be missed, Martyn - good luck in your new venture.
..and thank you, David for the e-mail - I've been a bit busy of late and haven't visited the forum as often as I used to.

Most of what I want to say to Martyn, I've already said directly to him.
However, Martyn has put a huge amount of effort into this site; Most of his work in the last months has been behind the scenes, and therefore probably not visible to people in here.
He has been invaluable to Dave and I since he has been involved in all moderating from an overseeing point of view, as well as more directly in some of the troublesome incidents. His advice has been invaluable.
Thank you Martyn, it has been a rewarding and learning experience.
I hope you will remain writing in here from time to time as a contributor.

Bye Martin, it was fun!

Fair and modest men are hard to come by.
You will be missed for your evenhandedness.

Difficult to add to what's already been said; I'd just say for myself that Martyn always managed to keep a lid on a forum that before the recent changes couldn't have been easy to control.
A model moderator!

Best wishes from the hot and sunny West Country!
Blow your horn if you are passing by on the M5 at Junction 26! We'll probably hear you!

Martyn
As a relative newcomer to the site, I'd like to express my appreciation for all your hard work. This is one of the best motoring sites on t'internet, and your input will be missed.
Good luck in all that you do, and take care.
Best wishes

I don't think I occasioned the use of your censoring button, but am equally sure that nothing escaped your eagle eye. Thanks for all your efforts and all the best.

Everything has already been said; I'll just add my thanks too.

Martyn,
You have played a major part in making this forum a model for others to copy. I hope that you achieve the very rosy future that you richly deserve!
With very best wishes,
David ('Dizzy')

Martyn,
If things don't change, they'll stay as they are. But things do change and the Backroom has changed and will, by the sound of it, continue to change. And you've had occasion to move on yourself. From the little bit I know and the contact we've had, I reckon you're a 'thoroughly nice bloke'. Not as nice as me - but still a decent sort :-)
I've moved on myself and am well and truly forgotten on the White Watch. I trust, most sincerely, you will continue to be remembered, not only for the hard and often unrewarding work you put in - but for simply being yourself and for adding a touch of enjoyment as well as balanced, sensitive & humorous oversight within the BR.
Sincere good wishes to you and your dear family.
KB.

Martyn,
Needless to say I just had to add my best wishes, and thanks for all your efforts over the years. If the tact and diplomacy you have displayed in ironing out some of the problems that have cropped up could be bottled and retailed you would be reaping just rewards by now !
All the very best for the future.
Regards, Adam.
PS. Has anyone let Chris Watson know !!

Martyn
All the best for the future. As someone who was around in C.W.s time I watched first hand at you doing a very difficult job fairly, skilfully and well. As most backroomers have said, you will be missed.

Ditto all of above.
This is one of a select handful of sites that I visit regularly, and I much appreciated Martyn's light but effective touch - I hope it doesn't change too much.
|
I can only echo what has been said already, everyone will be sorry to see you go Martyn, just make sure you drop in as a contributor regularly.
I've only been around a relatively short space of time, but anyone who helped make the BR what it is today deserves a medal.
Take Care
