Found a garage local to me to service the Honda crv. They are good garage scheme and which? Rated. They have given me a great price for a full service. They say they will use millers trident 5w30 low saps c2/c3.
Just wondered if this oil is any good and if anyone can pass any opinions on this (good or bad)
I’m no chemist, but if it meets the grade then it’s as good as anything else. I buy the correct Ford spec oil for my Jaguar when Tesco have their own branded stuff on offer.
I’ll restate my lack of a degree, but I will stick my neck out and state that neither you nor your engine will notice the slightest difference between brands, as long as it’s the correct grade. Or, if you’re in danger of over thinking it, just go with what it says in the handbook.

Yes I am overthinking it, I just want to put the best stuff I can in the car.
I know it needs to be 5w30 c3 rated.
It's the brand I cant decide on. I've contacted a few garages for quotes and I've had a few say we only use Mobil and castrol. One garage (Honda Mansfield,) use shell helix and one indy nearby has said they use millers
Millers is a highly respected oil producer, rated in racing circles, you won't go wrong with their( correct for the car) product in the engine, they don't spend mega money on advertising hence decent value when bought in bulk as the garage will have.
Only a comment from an expert in nothing, but my Landcruiser engine was particularly noisy with Helix Ultra inside, quietest of all with the Exol Optima Vimax costing a whopping £46 for a 20 litre drum..:-)
im swaying towards millers trident. been reading up on specs, the cover
bmw ll04
vw 502 504 507
PSA b71 2290
porsce c70
seems to cover quite a range. i only really need c3 cover but its nice to know that it covers a wide range of manufactures
its either trident or mobil1 sevice at ats.
think im gonna give shell and castrol a miss
The company I worked for used to performance test engines from various respected manufacturers of heavy duty power units, always ran them on Millers oil, never had lubrication problems.
