VW Passat 2004 1.9Tdi 130bhp - Emissions Issue - charliebrownboy

I posted earlier today with a problem of lack of acceleration in 4th and 5th gear and engine light coming on. I would like to add to that post that on starting not only does the engine light come on with the message 'Emissions Workshop' the brake light comes on with beeping and a message saying STOP, Brake Fault. When I release the handbrake the beeps stop and the message goes away. I would like to further add that the brakes work perfectly well. This has been an intermittent message.

It needs to go to a workshop that can read the full VW diagnostics to find out what's happening - the electronics clearly don't want you to drive the car.

Faulty brake light switch can cause all sorts running issues. A common failure on all Vag models.

Miss adjusted brake light switch on our Gold put the glow plug light on. Very strange.
