Peugeot 308 SW - Peugeout 308 knocking sound - Alex Kyriacos

My 8 year old 308 has just started developing a knocking sound coming from below. It seems nothing to do with the steering as it happens in a straight line. As the road deteriorates, the noise starts with each bump and increases as the bumps increment, until it almost sounds like popcorn popping in a pan on some roads . You can also feel the vibrations from the kncking. The car is well looked after and only has 60,000 miles on the clock. Cards on the table, what could it be and what would it cost to fix? Suspension? Engine mount? Axle?

Thanks for your time.

1st thing I'd check would be the anti roll bar links.

I don't know how many I've renewed over the years.

Thanks. That would be a result - relatively cheap and easy!

Noise like ball bearing in a tin = drop link. Don't fit a cheap one, they last less than a year - Lemforder are OE supplier to PSA - I've also had good life from Myele heavy duty links on our C4 Picasso.

I have replaced the ones on my 406 about three times, doesn't seem to make a lot of difference which ones I use, the rubber boots usually fail allowing water ingress.
