Vauxhall Corsa C - Fuel tank not venting - 547HEW

Son's girlfriend has a 55 plate Corsa 1.3 cdti. It sometimes loses power, more so when cold, uphill, or into strong wind!

The other day I had to put some fuel in, and noticed a big rush of air into the tank as I removed the filler cap. Wasnt too concerned about this as we had 2 Fiesta petrol cars which did this. But clearly embossed on the cap (I'm sure its OE), is VENTILATED!

My next step is to try to perform a vacuum test on the filler cap using a Mity-vac.

But wondered if it has a tank vent valve that is not working, and that the wording on the cap is referring to the system, not the cap?

We have no DTC's, but I dont really trust my cheapo reader

Any comments welcome

Did it still suffer the loss of power after the filler cap was removed?

Modern cars aren't meant to vent.

they use a carbon canister to "store" fumes that is then vented into the engine when conditions are correct.

The cap is only meant to work one way permitting air in,

not out.
