Huge selection and good sticker prices but the demands of a 6 day week including every weekend means they don't tend to hang onto good sales staff. Faces change constantly and all too often when I've visited a branch to view a car for myself or another I've encountered inexperienced very poorly informed sales staff with zero product knowledge who then call in a more experienced manager to work out the finance, (always at too high a rate) work out trade in prices and give you the hard sell combined with the add on sales pitch for warranties (only 28days included), GAP ins etc.
Yes I would agree with that, constant turnover of the sales people and the more junior they are the faster the turn around. The staff don’t leave they are just moved around the branches. Maybe its because I have done my homework before I go near them and know the value of the car Im trading in and the car I want to buy then basically tell them the deal I need or I walk away and try somewhere else. When it happens it happens very quickly, a yes or no. A couple of times I have walked away but later get a call saying they would do the deal.
Took my wifes pal over to look at a Fabia, she fell in love , bright yellow, we were in my car so they could not see hers but offered her £2000 for it unseen. This woman is a vet and used the car to carry her dogs and other animals, it was literally half eaten in the back, seats, carpets and trim wrecked. I told her to grab the deal. When she went to exchange cars they did not bat an eyelid.
My current car came from Any at £150 lower price than advertised by the on line brokers and that was a factory order not stock. Was not too happy with the trade in being offered so stuck it on Gumtree of all places and sold it within a week for £750 more. Also removed the load partition grill / dog guard and sold on eBay for £220, hard to get better.
Every car dealer should have " Buyer Beware" above the door and on every car. They are there to make as much as possible off you so dont be surprised when they try. Up selling is the name of the game now, not just cars but everything.
