Using a broker to purchase I.e. Varissa, DTD - Jason Edwards
Hi,

I am looking at using a broker to purchase a new Mercedes C class coupe 220D, has anyone used Varissa at all as I have never used them previously?

It depends on how (not if) you are connected to them!

I don't see how you can assume that, Leaseman. If he was trying to advertise he'd do better to pretend to be a satisfied customer.

So, to repeat the question - has anyone any experience of Varissa?

Not connected to them at all. I found them on the internet along with carwow and drive the deal but they seem to be cheaper than all of them for this particular car and local dealers are £800 more expensive. Just wondered what people's thoughts were as spectical about using them??

Unlike DTD, C2C and others, I've never even heard of Varissa.

A little bit of digging at companies house shows it's a 2 year old company, trading out of southhampton, at an address that is also used by dieselcarcompany ltd, a used car sales site that (unsurprisingly) specialises in diesels. It does NOT look like the sole director of Varissa (Steve McInally) is anything to do with the ownership of the dieselcarcompany.

Varissa is registered with the FCA.

They also charge a £199 fee once an order is placed. DTD didn't when we ordered from them.

Did you have a good experience with DTD? They're slightly more expensive than Varissa but someone has used DTD previously and has a good experience with them I would love to hear

Lots of people have used DTD. HJ himself has recommended them.

I've bought 2 cars from Carfile and have been satisfied with them. I do not work for them!

Depending on the make and model, it's worth getting quotes from one or two brokers and then asking your local dealer if they can match the quote. I got £7,000 off my V60 that way, and had the advantage of being able to buy from the excellent dealer nearest to me (Yeovil Volvo).

I was a little put off when I last looked at DTD, before quoting they ask you to fill in your personal details (fair enough) but their explanation was they were 'Legailly' obliged to request this.

Dodgy spelling always puts me off a website!
