Citroen DS4 - Mileage - Le122

Just did a hpi check on a car i was thinking of buying. The car is advertised for 61000 and the mileage check flagged up a discrepancy. The last record goes down a small amount rather than up. Does this look strange or could there be an explanation?

Ask the vendor. Simple. And yes, quite feasibly a simple case of 'fat finger' when entering the mileage.

I'd be more concerned by the fact that it's sat around on a forecourt and done no mileage for nearly a year.

Enter the reg and do an MOT check:

I did and it had its mot in jan 2016. Dont have the figure to hand but it was around 53000 miles. The car is currently advertised with 61000 on it. Could it be that the last 2 figures shown above are estimates or something? If i took those out of the mix all would add up. Im trying to get rid of my car which unknown to me was clocked so obviously i dont what that happening again. The car is originally from england but now in northern ireland so i can only get info online on it before it came here.

So the MOT in January 2016 was 53000 miles. But the mileage recorded in October 2015 was 62,000 miles ?

And you're actually even considering buying, having been stung with a clocked car in the past ?

Sorry just rechecked and it was 59698 at mot. They just dont seem to be very big numbers to clock by. Well compared to mine anyway. Its the bvrla entries that are confusing me. Especially since the last one is a tiny bit less. Just thought they would maybe be some sort of estimates. Maybe not

Looks like a fat finger by the leasing company in Oct 2015. That probably was 52925, not 62925. Then the mileage increases by date on both MOT and HPI records. It also means it wasn't sitting around on a forecourt.

A classic example of garbage in garbage out use of computer databases causing undue worry. Probably nothing suspicious about this car at all.
