Audi A4 B7 - Bulb Fault indicator wont switch off - Steveieb

Changed the stop lamp bulb after the dashboard indicator logged a fault, then another fault appeared showing the rear left foglight bulb had blown.

Changed this bulb but the dash indicator still says the bulb is faulty and also noticed the foglight fails to work.

had this happened before but it has always cleared after switching the fog lamp on.

Can anyone explain what is going on please ?

You should only have a RHS fog light.

Make sure you are using the correct bulb in the correct location. On a lot of these, they use a twin filament bulb, but only one is used.Check the base in the bulb holder for one or two contacts. Also cars with lamp monitoring like to be fitted with quality bulbs so as not to upset the system. If I recall, these have one reverse light on the left and one fog lamp on the right, even though there appears to be a location for 2 .Somthing else I need to mention, the system may need resetting by locking the car, then unlocking,to reinstate correct operation.

Thanks for this really useful guidance.

and for pointing out that the foglight is on the drivers side or RH rear of the car.

But what i can't understand is that the error message says the LH fog light bulb is blown and as you rightly say it is not wired up, even though there is a single filament bulb in the place where it should be.

Plan to change the RH foglight bulb and reset the system as Elekie doc advises. And see if this fixes the problem ?

I always use Lucas bulbs but can you advise on what is a high quality bulb ?

It may have Lucas on the box,but it could be any old junk inside.Use Osram or Philips bulbs,or even Gerlux, but you may struggle to find any of these easily.flea bay is probably your best option, but beware fakes
