Audi 80 1994 - Failure to start - helzbelz
My Audi 80 usually starts first time but recently has been letting me down by not starting. If left for about 30 minutes it starts again normally. It has been happening over the past year, frequently letting my wife down whilst out in it. I have had it for 5 years. Mileage 40,000. I have had a new coil. It has a spark even when failing to start. I have tried replacing the air ram but it seems to make no difference. Can anyone throw any light on this problem? Also, do you know whether this model has a crankshaft sensor.

If there is definitely a good spark during non start condition, then it is possibly a fuel issue. If I recall ,this uses an electronic dizzy with no crank sensor.Possible fuel pump relay fault ?Do you know if this is single or multi point injection.?Do you have the engine type/code.?

I assume this is the 2.0 8V petrol engine?

Is this not the model with the Hall Sensor issue on the distributor? I recall that there was some history of this in the distant past.

Good car. I had one in 1990.
