WARNING - Dwight Van Driver

Circulating today on my old Force's network is a warning that if you get an E Mail purporting to be from DVLA asking you to update certain information

DO NOT OPEN

Apparently it contains a virus.

I think I read this same message over the weekend. However I thought this type of malicious messages were only a problem if an attachement were opened or a link was followed. Is it the case that this one infects your computer simply by being opened? If so that is evil. I have recently been in contact with the DVLA and therefore would open an e mail, however I think I would spot a scam and not go further, but this is really disturbing.

Thanks for the warning.

Thanks DVD, bad timing for me too, quite possible DVLA will email me cos my HGV is up before the medical section (always has to be, childhood eye injury) so they might well contact me for further info.

I detest the low life's who come up with these things, if they put half as much effort and enthusiasm into a proper days work they'd be doing very well legitimiately.

Thanks Dave.

My experience with the medical section, is that they either ring you, you ring them or a letter in the post. Never been emailed from them.

On a side note i got an email proporting to be from Amazon telling me that i could enter a competition to win £500 and to click on the button below. When i hovered my mouse over the senders email it was not from Amazon but some low life that,if i had clicked the link, would have now infected my computer.

NEVER click on a link in an email....its too risky.
