Obvious question,

have you squeezed the primer bulb near the fuel filter?

If it's solid then fine,

if you can squeeze it a number of times before it goes hard then the fuel isn't staying in the filter when it's off.

Might be a leak back intothetank.

whats the primer bulb?

Black thing,

sort of like a small grenade in the fuel line just before the fuel filter.

It's a manual pump from the tank to the fuel filter.

you squeeze it,

it's goes hard quick or is hard there's plenty of fuel in the line/filter,

if it's soft and takes a good few squeezes then the line is empty and so the diesel pump is sucking air and not fuel.

these have an in tank pump yhat activates on the key,

runs for a few seconds but if the line/filter isn't nearly full when this happens your back to the diesel pump being empty.

Open the diesel filter and look,

the fuel should be near the top.

not nearly empty.

the pump is half deflated ans wont go hard

This is the point where I would vacuum test all the components.

Procedure using a hand held vacuum pump with gauge.

I usually start by uncoupling the fuel filter,

blanking off the inlet and vacing the outlet,

Idea being to see if it can hold vacuum or see if it leaks air back in.

It has to hold vacuum,

f not it will be unlikely to suck fuel up from the tank.

Then if that passes it's vac testing the line from the tank and so on.

Might be better to get a diesel specialist to check it out as the process can get a little involved,

I mean what your actually looking for is invisable!

Unless you have a vacuum test tool.

can it just be the primer at fault i checked inside the filter housing and it was full

Given the extent of your knowledge, you need someone who understands such problems, to check out your vehicle and provide practical mechanical help.

If you have a priming bulb then there will be no in-tank fuel pump. Air ingress in the primary fuel system sounds like the most likely cause of your problem, and will not be difficult to diagnose with the right equipment. Your engine is direct injection and should not require the use of glow plugs for cold starting. In fact they will not even switch on for pre-heating unless the outside air temperature is below 2 degrees celcius. Their purpose is to reduce engine noise and to improve emissions when the engine is cold.

The fuel injectors will not pulse unless the fuel rail pressure is a minimum of 10,000 KPa, (100bar or 1450psi) so air in the primary system will cause this, as would a worn high pressure pump or faulty pressure relief valve. A faulty fuel rail pressure sensor could also be the cause. A scantool should should fuel rail pressure, but it's not easy to determine what the actual pressure is in the fuel rail, and loosening fuel injector pipes is definitely not recommended, nor should it be necessary to do so.

Also remember that the engine needs to draw clean air. If the EGR valve is stuck open then exhaust gasses could be drawn back, and in which case the engine will not run.

Check for exhaust smoke whilst the engine is cranking. No smoke means no fuel is being injected. Unburned fuel smoke is light grey in colour.

bought a op com today and got error code temp sensor circuit high input?

I know I sound likea nag but fault code reading has to be the absolute first thing to do.

BEFORE ANY PARTS ARE BOUGHT AND TRIED.

Guessing just costs money!

ive cleared all the faults and still getting same code but now its saying glow device circuit general error, so ive removed the relay plug and retested now getting circuit open so am i right in thinking that means my wiring is fine and its the relay that is my fault?
