Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210 - Tyre size for Mercedes E300 TD Estate W210 - mondeoman2013

I have an old workhorse Mercedes E300 TD Estate W210.

I do not have the handbook and was wondering what tyre sizes should be fitted to this car, and if mine are standard / ok ?

I bought the car with budget Chinese rubber

STK Sport 225/55/R16 99WXL on front

Accelera Alpha 225/55 ZR16 99W XL on rear

They are all legal and passed MOT a few weeks ago, but the grip doesn't feel great, and I was thinking of getting some better quality tyres.

When I go to blackcircles and enter my reg number it suggests the sizes shown below.

Does this suggest wrong tyre size is currently fitted, and is this a problem ?

Thanks

Tyre sizes should be listed on the inside of the fuel filler lid.

Thanks, just taken a look.

There is info about tyre pressures but not tyre sizes.

Ok ,that is the size sorted, so wondering which tyres to get ?

My priority is grip and safety especially with the rear wheel drive, not too bothered about road noise or fuel economy, as I don't do a lot of miles.

What are the forum's views on winter tyres ?

Would they give better grip throughout the year ?

I'm not keen on the idea of having 2 sets of tyres/wheels but wouldn't be worried about additional wear to winter tyres as like I said I do low miles.

There are plenty of all-season tyres on the market which probably aren't quite as good as winter tyres in extreme situations, but will cope with snow and ice where the road is passable.

Everyone has their favourites: I have had very good experience with Kleber Quadraxers, which are quite a bit cheaper than the so-called premium makes.
