Alfa Romeo MiTo - Full or part service? - priteshkalidas
Hi

My gf has an Alfa Romeo Mito 1.4 Turbo and according to the dealer she purchased the vehicle from (JCT 600) it is due a service. The issue is would it be a part or full service, that is required? The Alfa is on a '11' plate and has covered just over 28'000 miles. The vehicle was last serviced at 25'758 on 2nd May 2014 and prior service was undertaken on 27th May 2012 @ 20,200 miles at that stage. The service history document doesn't state which service is required either. What service would you recommend undertaking, full or part. The vehicle only covers around 4,000 miles per annum.

Thanks.

So the car did 20k in its' 1st year, then 5.5k over the next two and 2.5k in the last 15 mths. Were the services carried out by an Alfa dealer? Could you contact them to see what service they did? If you can't find out, then maybe have the full service done so that your GF is starting from a clean sheet.

I'd ignore what's regarded as full or part service and, assuming its completely out of warranty now, get an indy whom you trust to service it thoroughly.

A main dealer minor service might be basically an oil change and 2 minutes having a look, a major service is unlikely to include the most important thing, that is the brakes, with so little use require a proper pads out full clean and lube service and that's an increasingly rare thing at main dealer workshops these days, arguably that indy full service will be similar if not cheaper cost than main dealer gucci oil pirced minor.

With such annual miles it would be sensible IMO to make sure it gets an annual oil change no matter the miles.

Hi gordonbennet

Have decided give the car a full service at a garage I know and trust, the car past its MOT in May 2015 and has still got 3 months warranty left as it was sold with a 1 year policy. Thanks for your help!

Hi Chris M,

All the previous serives were not carried out by Alfa Romeo dealers, but franchised dealers. Have decided give the car a full service, the car past its MOT in May 2015 and has still got 3 months warranty left as it was sold with a 1 year policy. Thanks for your help!
