Peugeot 308 SW 1.6 Hdi - Cam belt change - davidhdi

At what mileage is the cam belt due for replacement? The car has done 90,000 miles.

Thanks!

It seems to vary with the engine, and whether (if a diesel) it has a DPF or not.

So the suggested intervals are from 50k miles/4 years, all the way up to 120k miles/9 years. Equally important, however, is now the car is used. More cold statrts = sooner change.

Also to take into consideration is the fact that if it does fail, the engine is scrap.

At that mileage, I'd probably be saying to get it changed. If it fails, it will cost you a lot.

I should have mentioned that it is a diesel.

Shall ring the dealer when they open, not sure if ours has the long life belt or not. It's a 2009 model

The service book for my 207 SW (it's generic, not model-specific) says the 1.6 HDi timing belt should be changed after 112,500 miles (which I think equals 180K km) except for the 407. I wouldn't wait for those last 500 miles but change it soon, or at least when the car is next serviced. It's probably about £300 but that's a lot less than a new engine.
