My 63 plate VW Golf 1.6 tdi SE had a small recent fault; upon entering my local petrol station the petrol cap refused to open, a quick search on google revelead a known VW fault. The following day took it to VW as under new car warranty. Dealer at this stage was helpfull and curteous and rapidly diagnosed the issue as a small plastic component that had expanded in the heat and as a consequence was causing the filler cap to not release, the actuator was OK.
Go the car back and all is well, however on closer inspection the dealer had damaged the paintwork around filler cap. Deealer acknowledges problem and booked the car in again at thier expense for a "smart repair".
Pick up the car again after "smart repair", paintwork ok but petrol cap incorrectly fitted back and know shuts with a "clang" rather than a solid thunk, again dealer diagnoses problem. Car booked in again for a further repair under VW.
My issue: a small warranty repair is being drawn out as a serous of small repairs as a consequence of my VW dealers incompetence and inability to get the job done properly, highlighting poor staff supervison and quality control. I have know wasted a 2-3 of my precious work days in going back and forth to this useless delaer who can not undertake a simpe warrnaty repair to my satisfaction
Should I ask for compenstaion for time and money wasted in going back and forth, and what would be a reasonable request. I will write to the dealer principle as well as VW UK.
Thanks for any replies.
