Hello guys,

Yesturday while out driving my car made what could be discribed like a ticking sound,i took it home straight away on the way home it had stopped and started again when i parked up,since then it has not made that sound again,i took the car out for 15mins to try and see if the sound would come back but it has not yet came back.

My car has 62,000 miles on it and timing belt has not been changed as far as i know,it does come with a service history tho last service was 17,000 miles ago so it is due one,this is my first car after passing my test 2 weeks ago so i went blindfolded when buying this car.

Took it to a garage,tried my best to drive around for awhile but sound has not returned.

I was told i dont have a timing belt but have a timing chain,should not be having problems at 62000 miles with a chain i would of thought

Timing chains need a supply of good quality oil to keep running without wear.

So leaving 17,000 miles between services will mean it wears out prematurely.

Your best bet is to get it serviced ASAP.
