Rover 25 petrol 1.4 year 2000 - leaking themostate housed within plastic casing - Delysher

the plastic casing housing the thermoste behind the water pump is leaking.

How difficult a job would it be to do myself DIY.

How long it likely to take to replace and any idea cost of the thermoste ?

Can it be done from undertneath car on a raised ramp or does the manifold need taking off first.

Many thanks

This job is very awkward. The thermostat housing is in 2 parts. The main body is pressed into the rear of the water pump housing and attached to the engine block.the water outlet part is bolted to this.It is really an underneath job,and even then it is tricky.Removing the inlet manifold makes the job a lot easier but is more work.
