Toyota Yaris, Hyundai i20 or Skoda Fabia or Estate - which car? - DirtyDieselDogg

With the 1.33 petrol in the Toyota,

the 84BHP 1.25 in the Hyundai

or the 86 BHP TSI in the Skoda.

And to level the deck, pay for the extended-to-5 year warrenty for the Skoda.

Thoughts please

To be purchased in the next 3 months/quarter, pref pre-reg.

Toyota Yaris, Hyundai i20 or Skoda Fabia or Estate - which car? - Avant

This one depends on your priorities (and of course on any strong preferences that result from test driving).

Other things being equal I'd suggest:

Yaris if you want to keep it a long time (the best reliability record) - and they're nowhere near as boring to drive as the magazines make out)

i20 will be a bit cheaper: maybe a little less good to drive than the other two.

Fabia if you want more room, but go for the higher-powered 1.2 TSI engine - not much more expensive. There may be some of the old model left with good deals possible.

When you change, will you become CleanPetrolCatt?

Thanks Avant, pretty much sums up my own gut judgments.

(i) For our Son, and as a long term keeper.

(ii) He favours the i20, for £1,000.00 less, one gets more goodies, he was hoping to wait until the new super efficient 1.0 T-GDI engine was introduced , but it appears to not be due until Novmber '15.

(iii) I favour the Yaris, first cos his sister already owns one, and the ownership experience has been very favourable, plus at least in D4D form a cracking economical drive.

(iv) But I have always had a fondness for the Fabia and it has the USP of an estate option,(OK at £1,000 more) plus the cracking good TSI engines.

Yaris without a doubt as a long term proposition.

Fabia probably quicker and there doesn't seem to be too many problems with the new belt drive ea211 unit----although recent VAG engines/recalls/problems/class actions etc would leave me doubtful as a long term proposition. I like the Fabia too, but every one I've looked at in last few years has had wet carpets ( as mentioned in another thread).

At least the Yaris is not just released, like the other 2.

So more chance of a demo model or a pre-reg.

Assuming I can persuade No. 1 Son.
