The car smokes on cold start. Injectors and compression are both good. No codes. Three mechanics have not been able to find the problem, I would be grateful if anyone has any advice.

One presumes that glow plugs have been checked? If this is white smoke, that suggests excess fuel.

There's a pre heat period & a after glow period on your heater plugs to eliminate the problems with poor idling when cold & black smoke. Get your mechanic to check out the after glow period Hth Regards micky-Bo
