Any - Looking at new car but must be 4m or less - Ethan Edwards

Have a Yaris Hsd and looking to replace. Do 20k a year on my own cash. It must be no more than 4m long..exactly. Economical comfy and have sat navigation ,decent stereo and be reasonably roomy. I like my comfort. Probably another Yaris HSD I suppose. Any alternatives though?

I suspect the lack of replies is because most of us don't know which supermini-sized cars are under 4m long!

Another Yaris hybrid would make sense if you like the one you've got: if you fancy a change, maybe something with the VW Group 1.4 TSI engine would suit - almost as economical as a diesel and a lot more refined. You can have an Audi A1, SEAT Ibiza or VW Polo with this engine.

Am I the only one nosey enough to want to know why there is the length restriction?

Thanks I'll take a look at those.

Why 4m?

Simple really, have a small garage with a freezer and a laser beam electronic thing for the roller door the other end. 4m allows enough room to squeeze round the back. Any longer and it'll have to live outdoors.

Google is your friend. It took about 10 seconds to find this:

If you don't want diesel, with higher purchase price and potentially costly servicing, the latest petrol engines give 60mpg on medium to long commutes. Vw up, Vauxhall corsa, ford fiesta, vw Polo, toyota Aygo etc all have efficient engines. And yes they really do give 60mpg, as my vw Up does. Of these, the Polo might be the comfiest, but rather boring external design and not as fun to drive as the best.

The new Twingo fits the bill, or the smart forfour version. smart is more expensive, but you get more for your money, including better sound proofing which in a small car for 20,000 a year is a definate requirement. Interior room is excellent.
