Rover 25 1.4 Petrol Engine - Year 2000 - water pump - Delysher

The water pump is leaking.

Been given different advice about the required necesasary work.

Does the Cam belt need to be replaced if changing water pump

How long would the job to complete thre job so I have an idea of the prices I amn being quoted for the parts and labour involved.

The cambelt doesn't NEED to be changed at the same time. But the garage already has all the front end open, so not changing it is saving a minimal sum.

Basically, they've got to take the old belt off to do the waterpump. So putting the old belt back on is a bit silly, considering there should be no additional labour charge compared to fitting a new one.

At the same time, you'd be best asking the garage if they are changing tensioners, rollers, etc. Again, you don't HAVE to, but it's a lot more wise if they are doing those at the same time.

It's around 3 hours to do the job.

And I like most woudn't do it unless the cam belt and tensioner were replaced at the same time.
