vauxhall astra 1.6 sxi - vauxhall astra emissions - frogmarch

hi got a vauxhall astra on 2002 plate 1.6 16valve and it failed mot on high co and lambda outside limits , when i looked the emissions light was on code said lambda sensor it was the one after cat and wires have been cut and it was welded in but i put new one on , could emissions be this thanks

A missing post catalyst O2 sensor would generate a fault code. Why was it disconnected? Doing so would have cured nothing. You now need to use a scantool and take some fuel trim readings and establish the cause of your high emmisions. If your pre-catalyst O2 sensor is reporting correctly and both the short term fuel trim and long term fuel trim is hovering around zero like it should be then you probably need to replace the catalyst. Try adding some Cataclean in the fuel tank first. Follow the instructions on the bottle and use it exactly as it says. You may see some improvement.

hi took car to test emissions and it failed now saying cat is knackered but the exhaust system has been messed with and now has twin back boxes , been told cat should be part of manifold or should get manifold then 3 bolt joint then middle bit with flexi and cat , but this has four branch manifold that goes under engine to a two bolt join then middle exhaust with cat think its a bodge up job so can you get universal cats still thanks

You may be better advised to get this vehicle back to the way Mr Vauxhall originally intended.
