SEAT Alhambra 2.0 xreg - EGR and Idle control valve - TILLEY

I have the above car and have had idle problems whereby the revs are all over the place and it stalls at inconvenient times. Ive replaced the MAF sensor which has helped abit and have read about replacing the idle control valve along with cleaning the EGR valve if my model has one..... Can anyone point me in the right direction for locating these as google shows no images of there whereabouts??????

thanks in advance

Can you supply the 3 letter engine code?it will be in the front page of the service book,on the cambelt cover,or on a white sticker in the boot(usually spare wheel well)

As strange as it maybe i cannot find the digits anywhere in the sparewheel well or on the cam cover, its actually a 1.8 petrol 2001 xreg

The most obvious place to start looking is for a manifold vacuum leak. Check all vacuum hoses, servo hose and inlet manifold thoroughly for any signs of leaks. Spray brake cleaner or something similar around any suspect areas. Any change in the engine note whilst doing so means you have a leak.

If this is a 1.8 engine,is it a turbo model?

The sticker in the front of the service book has loads of numbers!!! It has 110kw EU46SG
AWC EHH
Ive checked for leaks and want to find the idke control valve and egr if it has one

AWC will be the engine code, 1.8l turbo petrol engine, 110kw 150ps.

If you do a search on eBay for AWC plus the part description you'll find pictures, that should help locating them on the engine.

Would be best to get a fault code read first.

after replacing the MAF sensor it idles perfect on start up and revs as it should however it still stalls a few times throughout the journey usually on slowing to a stop, would it be worth cleaning the throttle housing if it is gunked up

This has an electronic throttle body(fly by wire,no cable),so there is no idle control valve.I would definitely give the throttle body a good clean and make sure that both sides of the air flap are clean. It may be easier to remove it completely for better access. Also check for any broken, collapsed vacuum and breather hoses as these can cause erratic idle.

Thank you so much my local mechanic was telling me to replace the ICV now i know why i couldnt see it! im going to give the throttle body a go, if i remove n clean the throttle body will it upset the ecu or am i all good to remove n scrub away?
