Is this a variation of the previous land rover system whereby it would refuse to start or move whenever it was required to go somewhere? Some people used to call it "break down"

That looks like a simple but effective idea to me. Good idea for it to work when parked so you don't open your door onto a bike, and useful for slow moving traffic when bikes are zipping between lanes.
