Sometimes, it can take quite a long time to log on to this site or to move around within it.

Is it just me or is it a reflection of the number of users it has?

Yes, I've noticed that, too. But it's only been for the past couple of days.

When I log in, very often, I initially see the website but without the graphics of the normal HJ display. What I see is just like a list of what's on the website.

Then, after a little while, the display becomes normal. Sometimes get this effect when going between different sections on the website, too.

Perhaps is because I'm still using Windows XP!

Website access - RT

It's been very variable for some months - I doubt it's XP as I'm on Windows 8.1.

Its a dated site and slow on windows 8.1

Website access - gordonbennet

Sometimes it's really quick, i'm on Windows 7, other times its agonsingly slow, presumably when more people are using the site, during slow times i clear off and come back later.

Usually this sort of thing is the fault of Internet Explorer, run by the loathsome and incompetent Microsoft. But unfortunately I haven't found Google Chrome or Torch any more reliable, mainly because both of these seem to infested with adverts that get in the way.

But if anyone feels strongly that we should be doing something about it, please E-mail moderators@honestjohn.co.uk and I can forward it on to the website developer.

Check your settings ... I'm no expert but this might have an impact on page loading speeds.

I have computers running WIN 7 and WIN XP, the XP computer is always slower (but is older with lower spec hardware too)

No problems here: W7pro and Chrome.

Try clearing cache.

Strangely, since I made the first post it's been going like a rocket. Over the last few weeks, however, it's been very spasmodic (Win7 and Firefox). I don't feel strongly about it, Avant. If it was my site, though, I'd want it to be more consistent.

I wouldn't say I feel strongly about it but why would the owners of the site not want it to run wll for its customers?

I mostly use my android phone with chrome browser and the last few fay the website has been very laggy.

Website access - Bromptonaut

Better now but it was so slow yesterday I was going off to other sites while pages loaded.

Running Win7 with Chrome on a Core i3 machine. Not a flyer but it doesn't struggle on other sites including t'other place hosted by Mr Khoo.

I agree with a lot of what's been said above.

The site in incredibly variable in its loading speed - sometimes almost instantaneous, sometimes slow enough for you to open several other windows/pages while you wait.

Occasionally it doesn't display properly.

I'm using Windows Vista, Opera 12.17 and Ghostery (which gets rid of nearly all the adverts).

It's not just a Windows/IE problem. I use an iPad in the main and it has been flakey for months. At this very moment it's fine but there are days when I just give up with it due to page loading, odd resizing and other foibles. It clearly needs either a revamp or more powerful server or both.

It's the adverts.

The main website loads quickly enough, but the adverts can take quite some time to load. Some browsers (such as FireFox) allow you to display the name of each link as it loads.

I'm not sure what the HonestJohn website administrators can do about this. Clearly, they need the advertisers but the HJ administrators don't control the sites that provide the adverts.

It may be the ads but I tried with Ad-block and it ws no faster.

Website access - RT

I use an ad-blocker but it's still very variable - either very good or pathetically slow, with nothing in-between.

Website access - gordonbennet

Same as Bromp and RT.

Website access - FP

Just now - pretty slow to load each page on the website, slow to accept log-on. earlier to day - fine, no problem.

Yesterday evening - awful. Gave up after 17 minutes waiting for the forum page to load.

It's totally inconsistent.

Whilst these days I have few problems loading the forum, I notice it still has loads of glitches not found elsewhere, which makes meaningful posting a bit of a nightmare.

Especially regarding 'quotes'.

MAybe it should qualify for the Undateables?

Website access - gordonbennet

The last few days the number of times it goes into 'freeze' type mode whilst trying to update or post a message is getting really infuriating.

Once again, if anyone feels strongly that we should be doing something about it, please E-mail moderators@honestjohn.co.uk and I can forward it on to the website developer.

Just foward on the info above about what people have said.

Why e-mail you so you can forward on when you already know what the problems have been as they are are all listed above?
