I seem to remember the early TV ads for Hyundai pronounced it the first way, but they now use the second pronunciation; does anyone else recall this?

Americans tend to "foreignise" a lot of words.

More like "Nee sarn", "Mars der" Sounds more exotic!

Then they go and mess up with Kansas and Arkansas!
