Ford Focus - Car key will only lock, not unlock - hoyak

Hi

I don't have remote central locking. I have just had a new key made for my car as the old one snapped. They key turns the ignition and can lock the car, but not unlock. I will take the key back tomorrow but just wondering if anyone had any ideas? It would be really inconvenient if I can't get in untill tomorrow.

Probably got some wear in the door lock barrel which the new key does not like.Don't forget,any Ford key will lock the car ,but you need the correct one to open it.

Thank you for the reply and info.. I wasn't aware of that fact regarding the ford keys.

What do you think the best option is? Will I need a whole new locking system?

You could get a new lock barrel made up that might help.
