Hi can anyone help driving home today the orange light with a picture of an engine has came on and stayed on it doesnt flash just on permanantly i read it is the exhaust emmissions light could anyone help dont no if this will help i had just put petrol in and it came on about 20 seconds after leaving garage also it is the 1st day of rain we have had a i went through quite a few big puddles dont no if that relevant

Best thing to do first is get it booked in for the error memory to be read at a garage. There are many causes of the light coming on as there are many different sensors on and around the engine that will bring the light on if one or more readings are out of spec.

It'd be pure speculation trying to say what exactly has gone without finding out what code(s) are stored first I'm afraid.

Thanks got a mate whose going to hook it up to one of those faulty finding machines saturday the only thing ive noticed different was it either cuts out or idles at a very low 300-500 rpm trying to find out if it would still be alright to use till then as have to get to work each day only 20 miles a day

I'd try get it checked out sooner. If it is a fuel related fault there's a good chance it could wreck the catalyst by continuing to drive it, especially if you're going to cover around 100 miles this week.
