2008 CITROEN XSARA PICASSO VTX 16V (MANUAL/DIESEL) - Heater blower stopped working completly - greg_ory

Hi,What I have done so far to narrow the issue down:

1. Checked the +/- plug at the motor directly, nothing.

2. Bridged 12V to the motor plug and it is working what means that the motor is just fine.

3. Tried to find out where the cable ends but impossible without ripping apart the car.

4. I have checked the ignition voltage and it seems that there are two or even three cable where I can measure 12V (One cable has only 12V when I turn around the key).

To be honest I am now lost without a circuit diagram so was wondering if anybody has an idea what else I could check or what is the best way to narrow this issue down.

Thanks in advance

-Greg

Firstly, the engine needs to running to check the system correctly.Look at the fuses in the engine bay fuse/relay box ,I think this is where the fuse for the blower is located.Another weak point is the speed resistor .Common for the connector to it to overheat and burn the contact pins.Sadly access to this is very awkward. It is in the heater ducting, top of dash ,to the right of instrument pod.

Thanks for your advise, I have checked the fuses and they are fine but I havent looked at the speed resistore and have found many article pointing in the same direction so will be my next task.

Hi there,

I have tried many times to find the control restistor or the wiring loom without success as it seesm that either it is different from model to model or my fingers are to big :-(

Exact Model:

Does anybody has a kind of photo diagram to make it more clear and also what is the best way to access bith. The garage I ask to repair did not come back to me at all so not sure if they thought it would be to much work but they mentioned that the control resistor and the wriing loom muct be replaced.

Thank you in advance

If you ask this question on www.frenchcarforum then someone on there with access to the citroenservice website will pull up a diagram showing its exact location on the car.

Tried that but nobody has helped so far so maybe somebody here can help to give more information about the controll resistor location.

Thanks in advance

I'm a member of FCF (but only active in the Peugeot section), its surprising you've not had a reply.

Anyway, I've had a look on Servicebox. Its better if you put the VIN in the search box rather than just the car as it narrows down actual fitted components, but I hope this pic helps:

The resistor is located in the top of the air ducting ,between the steering column and heater box.Set the heater control to recirculation at put your hand up the inlet pipe above clutch pedal. You will then be able to feel the resistor .It is a bayonet fit,so rotate it to unlock from the pipework and draw downwards to disconnect from wiring.
