Toyota says the Land Cruiser 70 averages 6.6 km/l (15.1 l/100 km or 15.5 mpg US).

My friend still has an original Landcruiser in daily use. It also looks better than the tarted up new one. He says it still 'isn't afraid of anything'.

I miss my 70 a lot, and one of these days...assuming we don't move house...i'll personal grey import a mid 2000's version with the 4.2 auto Diesel lump for my retirement, still got a painted steel dash, still as simple and reliable as anything ever made.

My old 70 saved SWMBO's bacon when she took a set of railings complete with concrete foundations out at about 50 mph, no airbag no crumple zone no problem, battering ram job, bumper took the whole impact, vehicle still driveable.

Mechanics dream, every single electrical item stamped in English with the voltage and what it did, eg 12v Glow Plug Relay...not a computer to be found, bliss.
