Confronting the civilian police staff speed camera - Doc

One of the comments posted on the video sums it up perfectly:

This bloke is a sad c**t who obviously has too much spare time on his hands.

Basically a man in a parked van being harassed by an idiot with a camcorder.

Wasting police time as well.

An idiot being filmed by an idiot then.

He may be a bit of a burke but it does prove they don't like anyone questioning them.

Confronting the civilian police staff speed camera - retgwte

Fair play to the bloke.

I would support him more if he had picked a camera van parked illegally, of which I see many.

I am surprised at the two coppers who went and hassled him at his house, for one most ordianary coppers are as cheesed off with camera vans as the rest of us, and for two the female copper was pushing her luck too far out of order.

He is also correct that people should not be allowed to routinely drive marked police vans if they are not coppers.

The whole way roads are policed in this country has degenerated to a shambles.

Fair play to the bloke.

.

All the camera operator needed top do was say he was working under instruction of his (warranted) senior officers and ask vigilante man to take it up at the station.

Cannot see problem myself if SC vans are driven and the kit operated by police employees who are not warranted Constables. The only issue is whether they are adequately trained to gather evidence that will stand up in court.

QUOTE:...""An idiot being filmed by an idiot then.""

Why is the man in the van be an idiot? Is is it idiotic to try and prevent irresponsible drivers from driving too fast?

QUOTE:..""The only issue is whether they are adequately trained to gather evidence that will stand up in court."

If unmanned static speed cameras can do that I don't see why trained civilian police employess can't.

The bloke driving the van is the lowest of the low, the police are a disgrace in this country

He is an idiot because of his 'how dare you film me' attitude and trying to hide. Its ok for him to hide in a van pointing cameras at everyone but not soon keen on the other way around. And besides, what a stupid position to park the cash van - right in the road so people have to drive around it.

If you are at work doing your job would you want some bloke to come along and film you?

Why would anybody doing a worthwhile honest job mind being filmed?

It seems as if the police and their quislings don't like being filmed because they have something to hide maybe?

I'll ask again - when you are at work would you want someone to come along and film you? Yes or no?

The police have a hard enough job without p*illocks like this.

What harm was the man in the speed camera van doing that warranted this level of intrusion/hassel?

The p*illock with the camera I suspect has few friends and a rubbish job.

The person in the van was doing the job he is employed to do and hopefully has been trained to use the equipment correctly. Why should some low life feel the need to film him when he is doing his job.

I find it very disapointing that the Police let the chap film them when they visitied his house, surely there is a law that would allow them to confiscate the camera or at least remove the cassette.

There is nothing to fear from these van if you abide by the speed limits. If you get caught pay the fine and get on with life.

What was his problem.

Confronting the civilian police staff speed camera - FP

There are really two issues here: the behaviour of the pain-in-the-whatsitsname who was in effect being a nuisance to the guy doing his job; and the defensiveness of the police regarding being filmed. As far as I know, there is no law against filming in a public place.

"I find it very disapointing that the Police let the chap film them when they visitied his house..." This is even less of an issue, surely - they were on his private property and that surely strengthens his right to film them.

I don't defend the unpleasant behaviour of the chap who was filming, but it wasn't the filming in itself that was the problem.

Could Mr Loophole use this as defence against a speed fine imposed in this way?

Confronting the civilian police staff speed camera - davecooper
The police van wasn't parked in a particularly sensible spot. On street parking is enough of a pain as it is. The van could potentially cause an accident instead of prevent one.
Confronting the civilian police staff speed camera - Brit_in_Germany

Exactly, especially as the street marking appear to be a hazard warning line

Rule 127: When this line lengthens and the gaps shorten, it means that there is a hazard ahead. Do not cross it unless you can see the road is clear and wish to overtake or turn off.
