I have an idea on how it might be possible to thwart the efforts of these ridiculous little cretins that keep posting reviews on their sinister kitchens.

Please PM me and I will explain all.

Better off selling your idea to a tech company - plenty of fourms have the same problem. It's very difficult to stop real people posting in the forums.

Not really - it won't stop them doing it but my idea would spoil what they are doing and that might just make them stop as a result

Very unlikley then it will do anything - they are just people paid a pittance somewhere like India to go round sites posting these kinds of messages. They don't have a choice of what sites they use.

Well, if my idea is taken up then we will see won't we? Why do you feel it necessary to put my idea down even before it's been given a chance?

Because if there was a quick and easy way to stop them there are a lot of sites that would be doing it and you could be making good money sellingt he idea to them.

Is it not feasible to make the site acessible for reading but "Registered Memebrs Only" for posting?

As a moderator elsewhere, the answer would be yes - but how time-consuming can you make the checks before membership is approved - the moderators aren't paid employees covering the forum 24/7.

Just add stilhaus and any other unique word or phone number to the swear filter.

What a good idea, Hamsafar: I 've just done that for S******* - which I trust will come up as asterisks in a moment.

RT - I quite agree. My general feeling is that there are other more important things in the world to get worked up about. We don't allow free adverts, so I hide the offending threads - but in the time it takes for me to see them, all that will have happened is that more people will have been put off the brand. Firms trying to get free advertising are likely to cheat on their customers as well.

But ultimately if you don't want to look at such threads, don't click on them.

I suggest catching their IP address and sharing it online on the post, and of course banning all future posts from that IP address .. is it ethical - well it's not much different from posting online the street address of the contributor

Also share their web address and contact their web hosting company (or Nominet) naming them as a troll.
