Tha's great to hear Gordon :) Lets hope the good lady never catches you admiring the local fauna ;)
Re the car fixing..: Defintiely ! The money is a major factor, as is the interest of finding out how things work. (I've always wanted to learn about cars, and have tried a course, spread over 5 sessions, but there is only so much they can teach a beginner in that time.
...but with this car, bits break, and it's not a major worry, as it is quite "do-able" and simple to fix (famous last words ;) ) & Youtube is an absolute God send! )
I am getting quite a reputation on the street. People are stopping, as they are passing, and asking me about their own cars. My standard response, is, a sharp intake of breath, a shake of the head, and a comment of "sounds like the big end thrust bearing" :) ) It is a great way to meet the new neighbours and find out the local news!
I do computers (mobile fixing) as a day job, but that is starting to dry up , as people are going over to tablets, and the next generation are becoming more computer savvy...so it is time to start looking for other ways to top up the earnings !
Last night, I was even considering buying 106s and 206s and doing them up, but I will have to do more research into that. I imagine it would annoy the neighbours, hassles of people coming back with minor probs, me buying lemons of cars, , insurance to move the cars etc . ..all for £200 profit ( 106s are going cheap as chips on Gumtree, 12 mths mot for £500-£600.) Maybe 206s would be better... I've heard they are similar under the bonnet. (I see the 1.4 hdi has silly mpg, it may be worth looking more into that for myself !)
Anywho, I doubt anything will come of it...but it is good to even contemplate the idea !
All the best Gordon, enjoy your summer hobby :) No doubt , i'll be back again , when another piece falls of my lego car :)
Cheers Liam
