It's not a good idea to casually use London; the fumes you see

I wish I could overcome my prejudices about London Bobbin, but I struggle to!

Consequently, I miss out on a lot of culture (major exhibitions, etc.) and there's the World Series Triathlon (an ace spectator sport, apart from the swim bit obviously ) in Hyde Park this Saturday, then I spot that the Beeb are doing 3.5hrs worth of live TV coverage so I can't be @rsed to pop down.

I always feel that I'm going to get 'stiffed' down there, be it by the railway company, tube, the traffic light/lane camera, the price of a cappuccino, and I simply have to jump in the shower as soon as I return home 'cos you feel so grubby after a day in the 'smoke'.

Anyway, those indigenous cockernees must be spittin' forty fousand fevvers, particularly small the business types who operate from the environs and have to venture in on a daily basis – they'll just increase their prices for the services they offer.

Does anyone on here have to commute, by car, on a daily basis to central laaarnden – surely not as we're all too wise?

I'm going to stick with mine! Too many people, too much rushing about, too expensive. I'll stick to the North ta! I am going to Twickenham next week for the rugby, and I can't believe how expensive it is to park, get the train, find a travelodge etc. Going to drive it too.

Well, I'm a Halifax (Yorksher) Lad by birth Bobbin so I obviously hate parting with it.

Pal of mine is at Twickenham this Saturday (Sarry's v Saints). His tickets are £60 each so his full day out will be close to £200 - a lot like yours?

I could buy the complete Megadeth back-catalogue for less...

I have found the best way to do central London in the week is...

Go on Sunday instead if it is a leisure visit as no C charge and most parking is free or cheap flat rate.

or

Set sat nav to avoid tolls (just in case).

Look on parkopedia for cheap parking just outside the charging zone but near where you want to be, you can tick and untick C zone....

en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/kensington_court/

Go down to arrive before 7am, the roads are quiet you can use bus lanes but noone else seems to realise.

Have a nap if you feel the need and then have a super slow breakfast at McDonald or café.

I'm guessing we're all fully aware that the CG isn't levied at weekends H.

For sure, I would always choose to pop down early Sun morning if simply for leisure. Have done in the past to watch London Marathon, etc. – get parked-up round the back of Fenchurch St. before 07:00, then Docklands from Tower Hill to Greenwich, etc.

Years ago (for midweek forays) I used to drive down to Brent Cross tube and look for an all-day parking spot around Highfield Ave./Hamilton Rd. Last time I attempted that the streets had all become resident-parking so I ended up much closer to Golder's Green u/ground than BrentX! Had to walk back as wanted Northern Line.

About the most I can stomach these days is a gentle roll down the A1, as far as The Bishop's Avenue, then a r/turn up to Kenwood House with plentiful FREE parking available on Hampstead Lane (if you get there before 09:30).

I'll be there this Saturday morning in fact. Coffee's are on me. I'll be wearing...

Have a nice weekend all...

PS. As for buying a MaccyD H – I'd rather eat one of my own t**** :–)

The cockneys are long gone - the "locals" all speak urdo in the east end. I commute to the city regularly - but by train.
