Hi all I have a vectra c 58 plate 1.8 with the xer engine and I can't find the location of the camshaft position sensor I have removed the upper camshaft cover and no sign any help would be great please
What is the problem with the car?
Fault scan showed dodgy camshaft position sensor but can't find it
If this engine has variable valve timing system, then this is more likely to be the problem.iirc, the sensors are at the end of the head, not behind belt cover?hth
Thanks that does help the car is running like a sack of spanners and using a lot of petrol I did notice two sensor type things one each side of the head just above the timing cover but I thought they were camshaft angle sensors can you provide pictures to help me please thanks so far

Firstly you need to make sure the oil is the correct grade and correct level on the dipstick .The vvt system works on oil pressure,so any issue here will cause a problem. The 2 devices you mention are the vvt hydraulic actuators.Remove these and check the oil strainer for any sludge build up.If both are ok,then it is likely that the cam variators need replacing ,along with a cam belt kit and water pump.hth

Thank you I will do all that you mention and get back to thanks again
